If you'd like to have a backup of your Fleep message history, then all you need to do is export your conversation history in one of the four ways highlighted below:
- export a specific conversation's message history
- export a specific conversation's message history and files to Dropbox
- export your entire account's conversation message history
- export your entire account's conversation message history and files to Dropbox
Option 1: Export a conversation's message history
Here's how to export the history of a conversation:
Step 1: Find the Export history button in the Conversation settings, and click on it
Step 2: Hold your breath and count to ten
OK, maybe you shouldn't hold your breath — the length of the wait depends on the length and size of the conversation. You will be able to see the progress right next to the buttons in the conversation settings.
Step 3: Download the file
When the export has processed, you can download the file from the conversation's settings. The history is available in two formats — HTML and JSON. Simply click on the preferred one and the file download will start automatically.
Step 4: Enjoy
Open the file and browse your conversation history. You can open and browse the HTML file with any web browser.
Do note that the files are not exported here. To access the files, you need to be logged into Fleep in the web browser and click on the links in the message history. In this way, you can access the files one by one.

Option 2: Export a conversation's message history and files to Dropbox
Following the steps below, you can export a conversation's message history and files to Dropbox. This will create a folder in your Dropbox, with the message history as a HTML and JSON file, and a subfolder with the files.
Step 1: Find the Export to Dropbox button in the Conversation settings, and click on it
Step 2: Give Fleep access to your Dropbox
A popup will appear, requesting you to log in to Dropbox (if you were not logged in before), and then to allow access to Fleep's own folder inside your Dropbox. That's where the conversation history and files will be saved.
Step 3: Sit tight
The export will take a bit — the wait will depend on the length of the conversation, and size of files. Feel free to navigate away from the conversation, we will send you an email notification as soon as the conversation history export is ready in Dropbox.
Step 4: Enjoy
Open Dropbox and find your conversation history export under Apps — Fleep. Your history export will be in a folder with the export's date, e.g. "Export 2018-11-14".
Inside that folder, you will find the message history in the JSON and HTML formats, as well as a subfolder with the conversation's name, which includes all the files shared in the conversation.
